Oceanicasub XVII - Completing Oceanica's Fleet Transformation
Oceanica acquired Normand Titan in January 2025 and renamed her Oceanicasub XVII as the final vessel in a wider fleet transformation program. Unlike several earlier Oceanica vessels, Oceanicasub XVII was already operational at the time of acquisition and therefore required no reactivation. Instead, the objective was to convert an active UT 712L anchor handling tug supply vessel into a capable subsea and ROV support vessel.
Beyond technical conversion
Tschudi Ship Management supported the complete operational transition following acquisition. The scope included:
- Regulatory and statutory compliance management
- Insurance coordination
- Certificate administration
- Crew management onboarding
- Ship management onboarding
- Operational readiness planning prior to conversion works
This combination of technical and operational transition ensured that the vessel could move efficiently from one operational role to another without interruption to future deployment plans.
Conversion scope
The conversion program at Green Yard Kleven included:
- Installation of mezzanine decks
- ROV handling systems
- Expanded crew and charter facilities
- Enhanced electrical and power systems
- Class re-approval for the new operational profile
The result was a vessel capable of supporting subsea survey, inspection, maintenance and ROV operations within Oceanica's expanding offshore fleet.
Completing a nine-vessel programme
Oceanicasub XVII marked the completion of a multi-year vessel acquisition, reactivation and conversion program undertaken by Oceanica and supported by Tschudi Ship Management and others. Following completion of the project in early 2026, the vessel departed for Brazil to join Oceanica's subsea support fleet, bringing the total program to nine vessels delivered for offshore operations.
