Project description
Isabelle X - Ro-Pax to Accommodation Vessel Conversion for Bridgemans Services Group
Tschudi Ship Management took over technical management of Isabelle X in July 2023, following her acquisition by Bridgemans Services Group. The Owners' objective was to convert the former passenger ferry into a floating accommodation vessel for offshore project personnel. Works were carried out in Tallinn between July and November 2023, covering refurbishment and rebuilding of accommodation spaces, upgraded public areas, and installation of a dedicated boat landing system, alongside shore power preparation, sewage treatment upgrades, heating pump installation, and modifications to meet Canadian maritime requirements.
A gangway won't do - offshore crew transfer needs its own solution
A traditional ferry gangway isn't suitable for offshore crew transfer. Accommodation vessels require a dedicated structure allowing safe personnel transfer from crew boats and service craft at sea - a requirement that shaped Isabelle X's conversion, and one that has recurred across every Bridgemans accommodation vessel project since.
Technical scope:
- Refurbishment and rebuilding of accommodation spaces
- Upgrading of public areas for accommodation-vessel service
- Installation of a dedicated boat landing system
- Shore power readiness
- Sewage treatment system upgrade
- Heating pump installation
- Modifications for Canadian maritime regulatory compliance
Following completion of the Tallinn conversion programme, the vessel proceeded to Naantali Shipyard for dry-docking, before entering operational service as part of Bridgemans' accommodation vessel fleet.
