Oceanicasub VIII, IX & XI - PSV Fleet Reactivation for Oceanica Netherlands B.V.
Between August 2022 and September 2023, Tschudi Ship Management delivered three MT6009-series sister vessels into Oceanica's growing subsea fleet: Normand Sira (Oceanicasub IX), CF Fortune (Oceanicasub VIII) and CF Aurora (Oceanicasub XI). Although each vessel followed a different path, all three underwent extensive technical works, class renewals and mission-specific modifications at Green Yard Kleven, Norway, before deployment to Brazil in support of subsea and ROV operations.
One design, three separate histories
Oceanicasub IX originated from lay-up and required full machinery, electrical and propulsion overhauls together with class renewal docking before returning to service. The vessel received ROV support arrangements, additional survey office space and preparations for a subsea crane installation prior to her departure to Brazil.
Oceanicasub VIII was taken over in operational condition from Chevalier and modified to support Oceanica's subsea operations. The works included HIPAP gate valve installation, environmental compliance measures for Brazil, ROV launch arrangements, a 50-tonne crane installation and electrical system upgrades. Deadweight tonnage was adjusted to meet Brazilian import requirements.
Oceanicasub XI followed a different route. Originally converted under Tschudi Ship Management's supervision from PSV to SOV for Chevalier Floatels, the vessel was later transferred to Oceanica and repurposed once more from an SOV configuration into a multipurpose offshore support vessel. Class renewals and drydocking were advanced to mid-2023 ahead of deployment in Brazil.
